DBT Consultation for Therapists
I provide consultation and training offered for clinicians interested in learning how to support their clients who are learning DBT, or interested in incorporating DBT skills into their work with clients. No prior knowledge of DBT is required.
As clinicians working with emotionally dysregulated clients we can often find ourselves feeling stuck and overwhelmed. It can be valuable to have some clinical consultation to help you move past the therapy stuck spots.
Benefits of Integrating DBT into Your Work
I help you by drawing on the structure, analysis and skills built into the DBT protocol. This includes:
Develop a clear conceptualization of the problem behaviors including what is interfering with the progress of therapy and the function of these behaviors
Collaborate with the client on this conceptualization and hypothesis of skills deficits contributing to the problems
Incorporate new skills into the therapy to teach them more effective ways of communicating their needs and regulating intense emotions
Let’s Work Together!
Consultation can be tailored to your needs—some clinicians prefer short term consultation and some may want more long term individual or small group consultation.

As a psychologist with over 25 years in practice, I was not accustomed to finding myself over my head with cases. However, I sought Katherine's consultation when dealing with a uniquely complex and challenging client whose needs were outside of my skill set. Her counsel was supportive, non-judgmental, and pragmatic and she helped me to manage a very difficult situation. Her insight and judgment are superb, and I simply could not recommend her more highly to anyone looking for supervision or consultation.
